Makoki: the fugitive from the asylum who explained the Transition
Born in 1950 in Burgos, although twenty years later he moved to Barcelona, Mediavilla began his professional career through his drawings in publications such as the humorous magazine 'Mata Ratos' and other mythical titles of the Transition such as 'El Papus' or 'Disco Exprés', in addition to collaborating on the 'Star' and 'El víbora' comic strips.
Together with the cartoonist
Miguel Gallardo
, and based on a story by Felipe Borrallo, he created
'Makoki'
, a character who fled from an asylum dressed in skirts and with a helmet that ripped off when he was receiving an electroshock, which was inspired by the North American underground comic .
His popularity led him to create his own comic magazine in 1982, also titled 'Makoki', published by Ediciones La Cúpula.
It so happens that Miguel Gallardo has also died this year.
