After a knife attack in the US gambling metropolis Las Vegas, the death toll has increased to two.

Six people were also injured, three of them critically, a city police officer said on Thursday.

A suspect was arrested.

According to the official, the man had apparently attacked his first victim without warning on the so-called Las Vegas Strip.

There are numerous casinos along the boulevard.

The man then ran down the street and attacked several other people.

Passers-by followed the attacker until he was arrested by a security guard and police officers.

Unlike gun crime, knife attacks are rare in the United States.

Five years ago, 58 people were killed and around 550 others injured in Las Vegas after a sniper fired from a 32nd floor window at a country music festival in Las Vegas.

He then killed himself.
