The “National Wagyu Ability Exhibition”, which is also called the “Wagyu Olympics” and is held once every five years, began full-scale judging on the 7th.

This is the 12th National Wagyu Ability Exhibition, which competes for the quality of wagyu beef, and has been held in Kirishima City and Minamikyushu City in Kagoshima Prefecture since the 6th.



A total of 438 horses were exhibited from 41 prefectures, the largest number ever, and full-scale examination began on the 7th, the second day of the competition.

Of these, at the venue in Kirishima City, where the judging of the breeding cattle section is being held, the first section, the "Wakao" section, which judges males between 15 months and less than 23 months old, starts at 9:00 am. The elite cows selected from all over the country entered one after another.



Then, five judges looked at the cows one by one, checking the physique and the condition of the meat.



Mr. Tetsuo Kuratomi of the Kagoshima Prefectural Beef Cattle Improvement Research Institute, who exhibited in the first section, said, "The cow ate well, slept well, and was in good shape. I want to do my best to win a prize at the top." .



The examination section is divided into 8 sections in total for breeding cattle and beef cattle, and the examination will be conducted over the 9th.
