The Ministry of Culture is experiencing its boom cycle: the General State Budgets presented today by the National Government

foresee an increase of 13.5% in state investment in culture

The ministry led by Miquel Iceta will have 1,589 million euros in 2023, 215 million more than last year, which represents an increase of 13.5%: from 1,589 million euros to 1,804 in 2023. A decade ago,

in 2013 , the Culture budget was 720 million.

There is another way of looking at the half-empty bottle: spending on culture represents 0.4% of the total state budget.

What does the Government dedicate this bet to?

The performing arts, music and cinema are the most benefited areas, with an expected expenditure of 343 million euros, 29% more than in 2022.

In the case of aid for film production, the Government will put 167 million euros, 71 million more than last year.

There will also be more money for art: 31 million more, in total, of which 13

kilos

will go to

the Prado Museum

, in the process of colonization and rehabilitation of the Hall of Kingdoms.

The new Royal Collections Gallery museum, due to open next year, will receive €12 million.

There are also historical debts, such as that of public libraries, underfunded for years for the purchase of funds.

Finally, the

Youth Cultural Bonus

receives the same endowment as last year: with 210 million euros.
