The total cash earnings per worker in August this year increased by 1.7% compared to August last year, and remained positive for eight consecutive months, but could not keep up with the rise in prices, and real wages decreased by 1.7%. It was negative for five consecutive months.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is conducting a ``Monthly Labor Statistics Survey'' targeting more than 30,000 offices nationwide with 5 or more employees, and has announced preliminary figures for August this year.



According to this, the total cash salary per person in August this year, including basic salary and overtime pay, was 279,388 yen on average, an increase of 1.7% compared to August last year, for eight consecutive months. It became a plus.

Out of this amount, non-scheduled wages such as overtime were 18,478 yen, an increase of 4.3%.



On the other hand, real wages, which reflect price fluctuations, fell 1.7% from August last year, marking the fifth consecutive month of negative growth.



According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, ``At the same time last year, there were areas where a state of emergency was declared, which affected salaries, but this year the amount of salaries themselves continues to increase due to the recovery of economic activity. Real wages continue to be negative while wages are rising."
