Karl Lagerfeld will be honored in the years to come.

Not only will the next Met Gala be dedicated to him, but a biopic is in the works.

Jared Leto will play the couturier, as he told WWD, in this production that could not be more official.

Indeed, the producers are close to the creator.

The designer's fashion house supports the project, produced by Jared Leto and his collaborator, Emma Ludbrook.

In addition, Karl Lagerfeld's communications advisor for thirty-five years, Caroline Lebar, Lagerfeld's CEO, Pier Paolo Righi, and the stylist's personal assistant and bodyguard for twenty years, Sébastien Jondeau, will co-produce along- footage.

60 years of dating

This is the first time that the close entourage of the designer of the rue Cambon accepts that such a project comes to life.

"It's only since we met Jared and Emma that we felt totally confident about the story being told the way Karl would have liked to see it," Pier Paolo Righi told Deadline.

Jared Leto, for his part, promises "to embody on screen a portrait as honest as possible" of the designer.

The actor has already begun to prepare, as he told WWD, by immersing himself in the archives at his disposal.

The plot remains confidential for the moment.

The production, which is still looking for a director, nevertheless promises to tell the important relationships that have marked the life, professional and personal, of the couturier, all “under an unexpected prism”.

Karl Lagerfeld's career spanned six decades, passing through the most prestigious fashion houses, including Fendi and Chanel, for which he worked until his death on February 19, 2019.
