This is the biggest disaster that has affected the Bouches-du-Rhône department this summer, with no less than 1,600 hectares going up in smoke.

A few months after the monster fire that ravaged the Montagnette massif, the prefect of the department ordered a pure and simple ban on hunting in this sector, for a period of two years.

“Given the magnitude of the fire that occurred on July 14, 2022 in the Montagnette massif and its impact on wildlife, it is necessary to take emergency measures to protect the environment of the burned environments to encourage the repopulation of wild species.

The decree issued on October 3 does not, however, exclude the organization of occasional wild boar hunts.
