Rising energy prices have a direct impact on the cost of public swimming pools.

If the water of the Olympic swimming pool of Nogent-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne) was already no longer heated since mid-May, it is now compulsory to wear a thermal suit for swimming since October 1;

Half of the city's energy consumption

Formerly at 26°C in winter, the water will now no longer exceed 19°C.

A temperature that would have already deterred some of the users.

Its director also added that a medical certificate of absence of contraindication to the practice of swimming in cold water could be requested from swimmers if necessary.

Heated by gas, the nautical center of Nogent-sur-Marne represented 50% of the city's energy consumption;

explained the municipality.

Too high a cost to bear with the new energy prices.

Open for the moment, the swimming pool could however soon join the some thirty nautical places already closed by the operating company Vert Marine, in Limoges, Versailles or Granville.

By November, the water temperature could indeed drop to levels deemed too low.
