Prince Akishino and his wife attended the award ceremony for the "Blue Planet Prize," which is given to researchers who have contributed to solving global environmental problems.

The award ceremony was held in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo on the afternoon of the 5th, and Princess Sonam Dechen Wangchuk, the daughter of Bhutan, who attended as a representative of the former King Jigme Singye Wangchuck of Bhutan, who was selected as the winner of this year, and the American Trophies were presented to two professors, Professor Stephen Carpenter of the University of Wisconsin.
