To the sound of 'Bella Ciao' (like many other causes lately, by the way), some twenty French actresses and musicians have coordinated in an action consisting of cutting their hair (some quite hesitantly, it must be said) to show solidarity with the Iranian women who have been protesting for their rights and against violence against them for three weeks, personalized in

Mahsa Amini.

As will be recalled, the 22-year-old was arrested and tortured by the Iranian Government's Moral Police last September for not wearing her hijab correctly.

The blows received for several hours as a "moral correction" ended her life.

Juliette Binoche

-who

opens the video sequence shouting "for freedom!"- is followed in this protest by

Marion Cotillard, Isabelle Adjani, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Isabelle Huppert...

and many more French actresses and singers.

This 'capillary mobilization' has been preceded by a manifesto signed by more than a thousand French film personalities, including actress

Léa Seydoux,

in support of Iranian activists.

Before them was a Swedish parliamentarian of Iraqi origin,

Abir Al-Sahlani

, who on Tuesday cut her hair with scissors as a sign of protest and solidarity in the

plenary session of the European Parliament

dedicated to Iran, and it is to be hoped that other personalities and female groups join the initiative in the coming days.

And before that, it was the

Iranian women

themselves who, in the demonstrations, began to cut their hair in a gesture that is becoming universal.

Meanwhile, in Iran, protests continue over the death of Mahsa Amini.

Police repression has already claimed 92 lives, according to the NGO Iran Human Rights.
