The River of Memories

by José Maria Merino, published on August 17, 2022 by Éditions Faubourg Marigny.

His favorite quote:

“It is said that a human being takes barely more than eight seconds to fall in love...”

Why this book?

  • Because this novel is a UFO!

The narration in the second person singular disturbs, even disturbs, and yet... we lend ourselves to the game and it works!

I questioned myself, trying to understand why this narration before being totally caught up in this story.

  • Because it's a love story and more.

It's the story of Daniel and Tere who lived a crazy and intense passion that death separated but it's also a story of reunion between Daniel and his son Silvio.

Finally, it is a story of travel, a journey to bring the ashes of Tere where Daniel and she lived the most beautiful moments of their lives.

All these stories are well intertwined and the poetic and philosophical pen of the author deeply touched me.

  • Because even if the characters are not perfect

and make us go through different emotions, the pen of the author is full of benevolence and we cannot judge the characters by their actions.

    On the contrary !

We put ourselves in their shoes and we understand their choices and their reactions, even if this remains debatable.

  • Because we follow two stories.

That of Daniel and Silvio carrying Tere's ashes mixes with that of Daniel and Tere, bringing back good and bad memories and creating a strong bond between a father and his son despite past actions.

This book was read with

many emotions.

I was transported by an exciting and tumultuous love story but also the father-son bond that will allow me to realize that happiness is precious but fragile.

A lesson in life, in wisdom but above all in love.

A UFO novel not to be missed!
