The performance of "Somersault Cloud" on a 300-meter-long high-altitude wire rope in Beidi Mountain Scenic Spot in Guigang, Guangxi attracts attention

"Monkey King": Rest assured, my safety is guaranteed

Recently, the performance of "Monkey King" in Beidi Mountain Scenic Spot in Guigang, Guangxi attracted attention.

On October 4th, the performer Zhang Guangbao told a reporter from Beijing Youth Daily that the steel cable in the video was about 300 meters long, and it would take about 100 turns to turn somersaults along the way. During the performance, he had seat belts on his waist and shoulders. Safety is guaranteed.

In the video, the performer dressed as Monkey King and performed somersaults on a high-altitude wire rope, accompanied by the mist-shrouded valley under his feet, as if Monkey King was flipping somersaults over the clouds.

After the video went online, it was even suspected by netizens that it was fake.

On October 4, a reporter from Beijing Youth Daily learned that the performance of "Monkey King somersaults over the clouds" was not a special effect, but a real performance.

Performer Zhang Guangbao just completed five performances on October 4th.

He told the Beiqing Daily reporter that the wire rope in the video is about 300 meters long, and it takes about two or three minutes to turn somersaults from one end to the other, and it can do 100 somersaults.

According to Captain Ma of the high-altitude acrobatics team in Beidi Mountain Scenic Area, Zhang Guangbao used a 21.5 mm thick wire rope for his performance. During the performance, his waist and shoulders were protected by safety belts, and the belts were fixed on the wire rope.

Zhang Guangbao, 28, has been performing at the Beidi Mountain Scenic Spot for three years. He said that when he performed somersaults at a high altitude for the first time, he also felt a little scared and dizzy.

"My body didn't get used to it. At that time, I turned less every day. Later, the number of somersaults gradually increased, and the speed gradually accelerated. After a long time, I got used to it."

Zhang Guangbao told the Beiqing Daily reporter that he had been in this acrobatic troupe since he was a child and started practicing acrobatics at the age of 8.

"First, I conducted training in basic skills, martial arts, high altitude, technical skills and courage in a training base in Henan. I have practiced somersaults for almost two or three years, and now I can do somersaults at such a high height since I was a child, and I have been able to do somersaults from a low level. I gradually adapt to the height, and now I don’t really feel the height of the scenic spot.”

Speaking of becoming popular on the Internet, Zhang Guangbao said that he was also very excited when he swiped it on the Internet. "I am more excited. I have actually seen my own videos on short video platforms before, but I have not received as many people's attention as this time."

Many netizens are also curious about their income.

In this regard, Zhang Guangbao said that he received a fixed salary, about 10,000 yuan a month, and did not settle the salary based on the number of performances.

Whether the show can go on normally depends on the weather.

"We usually have three performances a day on weekdays, and four on weekends. Like the National Day Golden Week, there may be more performances. On October 4th, there were five performances. There was an hour between the previous performance and the next performance. After going through 100 somersaults and continuing to perform, I am still a little tired afterward. If I perform three times a day, I can rest for more than an hour between the last one and the next.”

Speaking of future plans, Zhang Guangbao feels that he is engaged in high-altitude acrobatics and should be able to work until he is in his thirties or forties. When he is older, he may consider starting a small business and run other projects, or he may still be engaged in this industry. Management work, no more high-altitude performances.
