In a new initiative to be added to the list of initiatives launched by Abu Dhabi to protect and preserve heritage, the first session of the Liwa Dates Festival and Auction will be held during the period from 15 to 24 January in the city of Liwa in the Al Dhafra region, which is organized by the Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals Management Committee in Abu Dhabi.

Obaid Al Mazrouei indicated that the festival will include the "Global Date Village" at the heart of the event.

On the importance of the festival management providing special boxes for displaying dates, he stated that the boxes designated for display meet all safety and health standards, and the festival management decided to unify them in order to achieve the principle of equal opportunities among the contestants.

For his part, the director of the dates auction at the festival, Mubarak Ali Al-Qusayli Al-Mansoori, shed light on the details of participating in the auction, explaining that among the conditions is that the dates be from the local production of the UAE for the year 2022, with the exception of the diabetes course allocated to farmers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as it should The dates must be from the participant's own farm, and each individual has the right to participate in two categories of the competition, in addition to the elite round available to all.

He added that the specifications of dates and the criteria for participants in the dates auction is that one participation does not include more than one variety, the quantity to be participated in should not be less than 100 kilograms within the categories of individual runs, and the quantity to be participated in the elite race must not be less than five items weighing 25 kilograms each. class.
