TF1 saw its audiences drop to an all-time low in September, as a result of its broadcast being halted by Canal+ due to a commercial dispute.

La Une saw its audience share (PDA) plummet to 17.7%, thus losing 2.3 points compared to last year, according to data published Monday by Médiamétrie.

If it remains the most watched channel in France, TF1 saw its audiences fall to a historic low in September, as a result of the cessation of its broadcasting by Canal + due to a commercial dispute.

The flagship of the TF1 group, whose free channels have not been broadcast by Canal+ since the beginning of September, has paid the heaviest price in this commercial dispute: it has seen its audience share (PDA) plummet to 17.7%, thus losing 2.3 points compared to last year, according to data published Monday by Médiamétrie.

All of the group's channels (TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films, LCI) recorded an overall audience share of 25.7%, compared to 27.6% a year earlier and 26.8% last August .

From 8 to 10% less overall audience for the TF1 group

TF1 told AFP that this "cut has a significant impact on the group's overall audience of around -8% to -10%", while remaining "disparate depending on the channels and the targets".

Despite this, TF1 recorded several audience successes, including the launch of its series "Les Combattantes", the first episode of which brought together 7 million viewers.

LCI, the group's news channel, grew strongly (+0.7 points in one year), recording its "best month in history" at 1.8% of PDA.

This allows it to follow CNews, its competitor from the Canal + group, down slightly over the month (-0.1 point to 2.1%).

BFM TV at the top of the continuous news channels

BFMTV tops the ranking of non-stop news channels, with 3.5% audience share (+0.6 points in one year).

At the bottom of the table, franceinfo nibbles 0.1 point to 0.9%.

Its parent company France Télévisions posted good back-to-school audiences, with the public group's channels totaling an overall audience share of 28.9%, up 1.2 points over one year (excluding France 4).

France 2 recorded one of its best audiences in September, with 14.9% audience share, up 0.7 points.

For its part, Arte fell by 0.1 point with 2.9% of PDA.

The Canal+ group sees C8 jump (+0.5 point to 3.2%) and its encrypted channel progress (1.5% of PDA, +0.2 point).

A lackluster return for M6, which lost 0.5 points to 8.5%, and whose channels are down (W9, Gulli), except 6ter (+0.4 to 1.8%).

Television viewing time continued to decline in September: the French watched the small screen 3 hours 19 minutes on average per day, compared to 3 hours 23 the previous year.
