The future Saint-Maur-Créteil station (Val-de-Marne) will break the record for the deepest station in France,

reports

Actu.fr.

Built 70 meters underground, it will largely beat the current record held by the Abbesses metro station, which is 30 meters deep in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.

This station, which will be located in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés on metro line 15, is part of the Grand Paris Express project.

The construction has started.

"With interior walls sunk 70 meters deep and platforms located 52 meters, the future station will be the deepest in France", indicates the Société du Grand Paris on its website.

Commissioning in 2025

The Camille tunnel boring machine made its passage in December 2020. The work now consists of carrying out the earthworks of the last lower levels of the future station.

The workers are currently 40 meters underground which contributes to "the preservation of the tranquility of the district", according to the public establishment.

Metro line 15 will come into service in 2025.
