Laurent Guimier, the director of information for France Télévisions, left his post on Monday.

Weakened by a motion of no confidence voted by a large majority by the group's national editorial staff, he was replaced by Alexandre Kara.

The director of information of France Télévisions, Laurent Guimier, leaves his functions and is replaced by Alexandre Kara, announced the president of the public group, Delphine Ernotte, Monday in an internal communication of which AFP has knowledge.

Laurent Guimier had been weakened after the vote on June 30 of a motion of no confidence by a large majority by the national editorial staff of France Télévisions (79.52% of the votes cast, with a participation rate of 71.09%).

A reform challenged internally 

As director of information, he was responsible for piloting an internally contested reform called Tempo: the abolition of the national newspapers of France 3 (12/13 and 19/20) in September 2023 and their replacement by 24 regional editions. .

During his career, Laurent Guimier had notably passed through Europe 1, France Info, then France Télévisions since 2020.

His replacement, Alexandre Kara, held the position of deputy director of programs at France Télévisions.

In addition to the appointment of the latter, initially revealed by Le Parisien, the president of France Télévisions announced that of Nathalie Saint-Cricq as "coordinator in charge of editorial developments in information" with him.
