The Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, and the Consul General of the Republic of South Korea, Moon Byung-joon, discussed the preparations for the emirate’s participation as the guest of honor at the Seoul International Book Fair 2023, as the authority is working to prepare an integrated cultural agenda to participate in the prominent international cultural event, and to highlight the leadership of the emirate’s cultural project. After announcing the selection of Sharjah to represent the Emirati and Arab culture in front of the Korean and Asian audience in the exhibition.

Finally, during the reception of Al-Amiri Moon Byung-joon at the authority's headquarters, the two sides discussed relations between Sharjah and South Korean cities, ways to enhance joint cultural cooperation, exchange experiences in the field of promoting the book industry and marketing, and coordinating translation projects between the Sharjah Book Authority and its counterpart bodies in Korea. Al Ameri said: “South Korea has a great cultural and civilizational heritage, and we at the Sharjah Book Authority are pleased to build bridges of communication between it and the Sharjah Cultural Project, to develop fruitful relations between creators, book makers and publishers in the UAE and the region and their Korean counterparts. He added: "The visit of the Korean delegation to the headquarters of the Sharjah Book Authority represents a continuation of continuous relations and joint work efforts led by Sharjah for decades, as we were the only representatives of Arab culture in the (Seoul International Book Fair), and in return, the Sharjah International Book Fair was the window from which the Korean publishing movement appeared. on the Arab region.

For his part, the Consul General of the Republic of South Korea affirmed that his country has strong relations with Sharjah, reinforced by the emirate's cultural vision, and its role in providing a great model to open the horizons of dialogue and communication with various world civilizations.

He said, "We are pleased to host the emirate as the guest of honor at the Seoul International Book Fair 2023, and we believe that hosting it is a qualitative step and a great opportunity to strengthen relations with Arab culture through the Sharjah Gate."
