Buckingham Palace in London has released the first official portrait of Britain's new King Charles III and his family.

The photo was taken on the eve of the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II, on September 18, when the royal family organized a reception for the leaders of the participating countries and official guests.

The picture included, alongside King Charles III, his wife Camelia and his heir, Prince of Wales William and Kate Middleton, who is now called the Princess of Wales, as she was previously called the Duchess of Cambridge.

The four appeared in black clothes, due to the state of mourning for the late queen, and the photo was not published immediately after it was taken, as the royal palace waited 12 days to publish it.

He described the reception held at the palace as the first official event for the new king, and the largest gathering of world leaders and international political figures.
