She was born in 1917 and had run a bistro since the 1950s in Isbergues, Pas-de-Calais.

Marie-Louise Wirth, aka Marie-Lou, was one of France's most famous café owners, regularly featured on television.

She died on Friday at the age of 104.

The cafe, located near the town hall and the church, had no name.

It was just Marie-Lou's who opened it regularly.

She had started working at the age of 14 in this café, with her parents.

In Marchastel, in Cantal, another centenarian ran a restaurant until she died, aged 101, in 2016.
