According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the epicenter of the natural phenomenon is located 153 km southeast of the city of Heraklion.

The earthquake source lies at a depth of 2 km. 

Earlier, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit the east coast of Taiwan.

As a result of tremors, a train derailed, and a three-story building was also destroyed.

Rescuers pulled several people out of the rubble.
