The cultural tourism scene in Dubai combines tradition and modernity.

The “Spirit of Dubai - Cultural Experiences” project, launched by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority last year, with the aim of shedding light on the essence and landmarks of the rich Emirati culture in the Emirate of Dubai, and highlighting the vocabulary of its authentic traditions, returns in its second season, to contribute to inspiring more creative talents of diverse nationalities, to share their cultural experiences with members of the local and global audience, and motivate them to explore the many cultural treasures and unique attractions in the emirate.

Dubai pulse

Looking at some of the experiences, Emirati writer Hessa Abdullah Al Balushi details some of her cultural experiences in the city, which she says she found inspiration for in everything in it. The different walls in it and if you touch it and feel it, you hear the pulse of Dubai flowing from the creek to everywhere .. The sounds that rise in this place, the smells and the colors are all specific to this city.”

The writer indicated that she also draws her inspiration from the activities she practices with the family, for her: “Family is something special and close to the heart, and the activities I do with them contribute to my inspiration, such as the three-dimensional museum, in which young and old enjoy, and in which I find words and childish feelings and amusement. in the paintings.

Speaking about her visit to the "Mohammed Bin Rashid Library", Al Balushi praises Dubai's interest in childhood, and says: "The first place I entered (Mohammed Bin Rashid Library) was the Children's Library, which includes educational and recreational books, and entertaining areas that attract the younger generation. To enter the world of books and words, and with a little luck he gets addicted to them.. This library is a haven for Dubai readers, as it is a place that makes it easy for us to use modern technologies to get an endless collection of books, and it provides copy services to take advantage of the contents at the time of study and research.

I especially enjoyed visiting the library’s relics section, which contains ancient historical original manuscripts and rare Arab and international editions.”

Her cultural journey also took her to the Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage, which she describes as one of the institutions that served science students and researchers, and “opened its doors to everyone who is curious to see rare and original manuscripts preserved with every craftsmanship.”

She continues: "The center's owner spent many years researching and securing more than 800,000 manuscripts from different countries of the world, and met many prominent personalities, so that the center became a global cultural beacon in the heart of Dubai.

As for the artery of the place, it is a collection of rich books bearing the dedications of distinguished writers and international universities.”

Another kind of inspiration

As for the Saudi artist and calligrapher residing in Dubai, Anoud Kurdi, she talks about what Dubai means to her and her journeys between the city. Places that inspire me and feel close to me.”

She adds, "(Culture House) is one of the places where I like to start my day, by enjoying and reflecting on all the inspiring details and colors, and in it I live a different experience."

And Anoud continues: "The beauty of Dubai lies in its details and diversity. On my visit to the Shindagha Museum, I contemplated all the ancient historical details.

Being in the museum helped me connect with the past, by reading the stories that each exhibited piece tells, such as (Fatima’s Collection), whose story inspired me to lend her wedding formulas to a large number of women in her community.”

Kurdi explains: “As a visual artist, being in an innovative and interactive environment is essential.

On my visit to the Theater of Digital Art (TODA), I discovered a new dimension to Dubai's rich cultural scene.

This experience enriches the senses and tests the arts from a distinct perspective, as digital arts are presented differently and presented in a contemporary way, while providing a rich virtual reality experience.”

Concluding: “Dubai is a differently inspiring city.”
