China News Service, Beijing, September 30 (Reporter Ying Ni) The Jury Committee of the First Ai Qing Poetry Award announced on the official website on the 30th that 259 participating works (collections of poems) that passed the pre-review were published.
The works of young and middle-aged poets accounted for more than 30% of the participants, reflecting the vigorous vitality of Chinese poetry.
The poet Ai Qing was born in Jinhua, Zhejiang, and is an outstanding representative of Chinese new poetry in the 20th century.
According to Wang Shan, head of the Organizing Committee of the Ai Qing Poetry Award and Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Poetry Society, the Ai Qing Poetry Award was jointly initiated by the China Poetry Society and the People's Government of Jindong District, Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province.
From May to December 2021, it will solicit contributions from home and abroad, and a total of 281 poetry collections will be received.
Judging from the poetry collections received, the outstanding poetry collections of important domestic poets such as Ji Di Majia, Ye Yanbin, Liang Ping, Wang Jiaxin, Liu Xiaowei, Han Dong, Da Jie, Ashin, Lanlan, etc., are all reported by publishing houses and other units. Sending participated in the selection of this award, especially the participating poets are outstanding poets from all over the country and all walks of life, which reflects the vitality of poetry creation and the prosperity of publishing in this era, and the works of young poets account for more than 30% of the total participating poetry collections. It is a very gratifying phenomenon in Chinese poetry.
In May 2020, the Chinese Poetry Society will name each May as "Chinese Poetry Ai Qingyue".
In March 2021, the famous poet Jidi Majia proposed to the China Poetry Society and the Propaganda Department of the Jinhua Municipal Party Committee to make the Ai Qing Poetry Award the highest award for Chinese poetry.
This proposal has received support from many parties, including Ai Qing's widow Gao Ying.
It is reported that the award consists of three awards: "Ai Qing Poetry Award", "Ai Qing Poetry Award - Young Poet Award" and "Ai Qing Poetry Award - Golden Bergamot (International) Award", and each session will be awarded to 6 Chinese and foreign poets.
