As consumer credit and “fake broker” scams multiply, the Banque de France called last Friday for the greatest vigilance.

For some time now, scammers have been using his name and phone number to trick consumers.

In order to gain the confidence of their victims, these fake brokers use a fake Banque de France agent.

The latter calls people, hijacking the telephone number of the national institution, and assures them that they can trust his accomplice, the bogus broker.

🔴 Attempts to fraudulently use the name of the Banque de France and the telephone number of its standard (0142924292) take place when subscribing to #consumer credit.

Do not attempt to answer in any way.

Never canvassing

Recalling that it never intervenes in the subscription of bank loans, the Banque de France insists on the fact that if a person calls you within the framework of a commercial canvassing operation, presenting himself as an agent from his country, this should alert you.

This is definitely a scam.

If in doubt, you are advised to contact your lending institution or the Banque de France directly.

The latter can be contacted for any question relating to banking regulations, loans, over-indebtedness, savings or insurance products, at 3414.

What to do in case of scam?

If unfortunately you have fallen into the trap, the Banque de France explains that you must above all not pay money and stop responding to scammers.

If you have been the victim of damage, you must quickly file a complaint, gathering all the information you have (emails, contracts, contact details, etc.).

Also ask your bank to remind you of the transfers sent, and if this is no longer possible, to give you the information it has to document a legal action.

Finally, you can call Info Escroqueries on 0 805 805 817. You can also file a report on the website www.internet-signalement.gouv.fr in order to prevent other scams.
