Christie's Middle East presented a collection of rare, valuable and exclusive artworks in Dubai, including the rare royal Mughal "Pashmina" carpet from northern India, at its exhibition, which was held yesterday, at the house's headquarters in the Dubai International Financial Center.

The exhibition includes an exceptional collection of the finest pieces of art for the first time in Dubai, including paintings, artwork and carpets.

The works, which will run until October 3, will be auctioned at the "Arts of the Islamic and Indian Worlds" auction in London.

The rare royal Mughal Pashmina carpet from northern India, which dates back to the 17th century, around 1650, is one of the most prominent pieces in the exhibition, and its estimated price ranges between 2.500 million and 3.500 million pounds, and it is one of the most luxurious types of Pashmina carpets. .

The rug shows the high global demand for Islamic arts and the growing influence of Islamic culture and craftsmanship from the ninth to the twentieth centuries.

The exhibition also includes important historical paintings from Europe, including a masterpiece by Sir Anthony Van Dyck, a portrait of Queen Henrietta Maria, and its estimated price ranges between 2 and 4 million pounds.

Van Dyck was appointed in 1632 to the position of chief painter at the court of King Charles I of Britain.

Paintings from the equestrian world are also displayed, including a work by the French artist Theodore Jericho, entitled “Italon Anglo Arab” (Anglo-Arab Stallion) for a horse from the imperial stables in Versailles, and its estimated price ranges between 250 and 350 thousand pounds, in addition to a painting entitled “Lord Asters.” High Stakes with Sir Gordon Richards Up at Newmarket” is a scene from a horse race created by British artist Sir Alfred James Mooning.

It reflects the region's great passion for equestrianism, as it is scheduled to be offered for sale in a private auction.

Arne Evrwin, Director of Business Development for the Middle East and North Africa at Christie’s, said of the exhibits: “This carefully curated collection of important artworks on display in Dubai embodies the distinct taste of collectors and artworks across the region. It can be said that they appreciate the high quality and exceptional artistry represented in these works.”

Efroin expressed his pride in displaying these works in Dubai for the first time, noting that the auction house has formed a team of experts in the UAE who shed light during the Christie's auction season, which continues until next December, on the authenticity and history of these unique works.

It is worth noting that these works displayed in Dubai will be put up for sale at the “Arts of the Islamic and Indian Worlds” auction, which includes oriental rugs and carpets, which will be held on October 27 in London, in addition to special auctions held by the house and the “Old Masters” auction for the works of a number of senior Historic artists, which is scheduled to take place on the eighth of December, in addition to the British and European Arts Auction (Part One), to be organized on the 15th of next December.
