On September 28, according to the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, the Xuetangliangzi site located in Yunyang District, Shiyan City, Hubei Province, was found for the third time to preserve the intact human skull fossils. Fossils of ancient human skulls provide an important basis for demonstrating the millions of years of human evolution in China.

From 1990 to 2022, seven archaeological excavations have been carried out at the site.

In the previous five archaeological excavations and investigations, two ancient human skull fossils dating back about 1 million years ago were found in the core area.
