It is the appearance of space 11 million kilometers from Earth.

An asteroid is moving, but today (27th), an experiment was conducted to collide a spaceship.

As in the movie, in preparation for the dangerous situation of an asteroid approaching the Earth, he deliberately caused a collision and tried to change its orbit. We will deliver.

Our time is 8:15 am on the 27th.

NASA's spacecraft collided with an asteroid.

In conclusion, it was an experiment to see if it was possible to change the asteroid's orbit by colliding a spaceship with an asteroid.

Once they hit the spaceship, they succeeded.

An asteroid is a mass of rock or metal that orbits the sun, usually more than 1m tall.

In particular, there are asteroid belts on Mars and Jupiter, and according to the European Space Agency, it is estimated that there are more than 1 million ones with a diameter of more than 1 km.

The problem is that there are asteroids flying close to Earth.

In fact, in 2013, an asteroid fell over Russia and exploded, injuring more than 1,000 people and destroying more than 3,000 buildings.

Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-do in Korea is also dug.

This is also a basin area formed by an asteroid launch.

There is also the view that this collision itself is difficult to see as an achievement because the neighboring country, Japan, has already returned samples from asteroids and returned to Earth.

Still, the skill to hit the target is great.

It is said that they hit an object that flies at 70 times the speed of a bullet at 20 times the speed of a bullet, and the size of the asteroid is only 160 m, so it is true that the prediction and technology are great.

But in fact, it's more like hitting a rock with an egg.

We do not know the exact weight of the asteroid because we do not know the composition of the asteroid, but it is estimated to be about 5 billion kg, and the spacecraft is about 600 kg.

Even if we collide with it, we don't know yet if the trajectory will really change.

So we'll have to wait and see if the asteroid orbit changes after impact.

The Korean Astronomy and Space Science Institute will also look at this orbital change.

If the observations are effective, we may be able to use this method to protect the Earth in the future.
