In Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, a service to deliver food and daily necessities by drone to a "secondary remote island" that has no direct transportation to the mainland has started.

Goto City's secondary remote island, Sagajima, is an island with a large number of elderly people living in about 100 people.

For this reason, a company that uses drones to deliver food and daily necessities from Fukue Island's supermarket in Fukue Island, which is also in Goto City, will start a service to deliver food and daily necessities by drone, and delivery started on the 26th. .

Deliveries are made three times a week, four times a day. When the drone flies over the destination, it drops the box containing the product with a parachute and flies back on the same route.

The drone will fly a route of about 50 kilometers one way in about 30 minutes.

Mr. Takeo Yoshida, who received the product, said, "It will be inconvenient if the island store disappears, so I think it's a good initiative."

Mika Matsuyama, president of the delivery company, said, "We want to meet various needs other than medicine and daily necessities, and make delivery services highly convenient for many people."
