The start of the moon mission "Artemis I" planned for this Tuesday has been cancelled.

According to the American space agency NASA, the reason is a tropical storm moving towards Florida, where the Cape Canaveral spaceport with the launch pad of the 98 meter high "Space Launch System" (SLS) is located.

You want to avoid any risk.

The trouble-plagued Artemis moon program is still under time pressure, because the current launch window closes on October 4th, according to NASA.

A further time window provides for a possible launch of the launch vehicle with the unmanned Orion capsule between October 17th and 31st.

About three weeks ago, two attempts to start failed - due to a defective temperature sensor on the hydrogen tank and a leaking tank hose.

Another leak occurred during a tank test last Wednesday, but it was able to be closed.

All tests have been completed as planned and all systems are ready for launch.

The program, named after the Greek goddess of the moon, aims to land American astronauts on the moon again by 2024.

The launch of the SLS rocket planned for Tuesday should bring an unmanned Orion capsule to the moon for the first time, which orbits our satellite several times.
