The general ward of the Medical Center is expected to undergo left ankle surgery on Wednesday.

  Gan Yu is an employee of the Wandong Hydropower Station in Wandong Village, Detuo Town, Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province.

After the earthquake, Gan Yu and his colleague Luo Yong pulled the floodgates to release the flood, preventing the river from overflowing the dam and destroying the downstream villages.

After that, Gan Yu and Luo Yong escaped from the hydropower station.

During the escape, Gan Yu stayed where he was waiting for rescue due to lack of energy, while Luo Yong continued to walk out of the mountain.

On September 8, Luo Yongdian was found by rescuers and escaped by burning firewood, but Gan Yu has been missing from the outside world.

On the morning of September 21, Gan Yu was found by local villagers in Wanggangping Township, Shimian County.

  On the evening of September 21, Gan Yu was transferred to West China Hospital of Sichuan University.

Wu Hong, vice president of West China Hospital, led experts from the emergency department, trauma medicine center, ICU, thoracic surgery and other experts to conduct multidisciplinary consultations on him, and admitted him to the ICU in the early morning of the 22nd.

Preliminary diagnosis showed that Gan Yu suffered multiple soft tissue contusions, rib fractures, and left lower extremity fibula fractures, accompanied by severe infection.

  After being admitted to the ICU, experts in respiratory, infection, digestion, nutrition, extrathoracic, cardiac, rehabilitation, trauma, thyroid surgery, endocrinology and other specialists from West China Hospital consulted him, and perfected CT of the head, chest, abdomen and blood vessels, painless gastroscopy, laryngoscopy and Painless bronchoscopy, blood routine, liver and kidney function, inflammatory indicators, etiology and other tests.

  Because Gan Yu did not eat for a long time, ulcers appeared in many places in the esophagus and stomach.

The ICU provides symptomatic treatment, anti-infective treatment, nutritional monitoring and adjustment, supplementation of vitamins, electrolytes, albumin and other support, and rehabilitation exercises.

After more than three days of treatment, adjustment and recuperation, Gan Yu's internal environment disorder was corrected in time, and all aspects of the situation improved. On the evening of September 25, he was transferred to the trauma medical center for further treatment.

  The reporter learned that Gan Yu is expected to undergo left ankle surgery this Wednesday, and the foreign body of the nail under the skin of the left instep will also be removed.

If the recovery goes well, Gan Yu will be discharged from the hospital this week.
