Abu Dhabi has succeeded in attracting the American television series “Last Light” to the emirate.

Adapted from Alex Scaro's bestselling novel of the same name, the five-episode television mini-series follows a family struggling to survive in a world of chaos after global oil supplies are cut off.

The action-drama series is directed by acclaimed award-winning director Denny Gordon.

Currently, the series can be watched in the Middle East and North Africa region on the Shahid VIP platform.

Director Gordon expressed her admiration for the areas in which the series was filmed, and praised the architecture of the city of Abu Dhabi, as well as the breathtaking desert nature of the emirate.

She said: "A wonderful opportunity to have a photograph in such a wonderful desert scenery with its charming sand dunes as far as the eye can see."

The series was filmed in multiple locations in Abu Dhabi, which became the legendary city of Losra in which the series takes place, including the distinctive architectural designs of the Emirates Palace and the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, as well as scenes filmed in the vast deserts of the emirate.

The director also influenced the scenes of the TV series by filming in other locations such as Mussafah, Abu Dhabi Global Market and Al Dana.

Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, Hans Fryken, said: “We are pleased to join our efforts and work with MGM for international television production. Abu Dhabi is a future destination for their projects.

It is noteworthy that the series stars Matthew Fox, Joan Frogat, and the cast includes Amber Rose and Hakim Juma.
