In 2007, Jiang Meng realized for the first time that the Yangtze River was really "sick" after hearing the news of the functional extinction of the Baiji dolphin in the news.

A few years later, when he learned that there were still a group of "residents" in the Yangtze River that were very precarious and in urgent need of protection, the finless porpoise, his mission of guarding the "porpoise" began.

Jiang Meng and his partners initiated the establishment of the Nanjing Finless Dolphin Conservation Association in 2014, and began to invest in the protection of finless porpoises.

It was also in September of that year that the Jiangsu provincial government approved the establishment of the Nanjing Yangtze River Finless Dolphin Provincial Nature Reserve, and the protection of the finless porpoise was elevated to the provincial level.

In 2021, Jiang Meng gave up his original stable job and became the executive vice president and full-time secretary general of the association, and devoted himself to the public welfare of finless porpoise and aquatic life protection.

Over the past ten years, Jiangmeng and his friends have insisted on holding more than 100 popular science public welfare lectures and activities every year, and built a science museum to learn about finless porpoises and other Yangtze creatures by the Yangtze River.

Now, when Jiang Meng is walking along the Nanjing Yangtze River trail, he sees that the green is back, the "Jiang Zhuzi" is back, and the waterfowl are back, "The picture I dreamed of more than ten years ago is coming back little by little. I think, as a A father, the best gift you can give your son is to keep this beautiful world for him and more children.” (Reporter Shen Ran Ge Yong)
