A "crying sumo" was held at a shrine in Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture, where children pray for healthy growth through their healthy crying.

Suwa Shrine in Shibata City has been holding a "crying sumo" since last year to boost the area, and about 50 children and their parents participated this year.

Wearing mawashi and decorative helmets, the children were carried up to the ring by amateur sumo wrestlers.

Some of the children continued to look outside the ring with a puzzled expression, and the audience applauded the children who showed various reactions.

A mother of a 6-month-old child who participated said, "I'm glad I was able to participate because there were no events for children due to the new corona. I want you to become a cool boy."

Kunihiro Hatakeyama, a green onion at Suwa Shrine, said, "I think the guardians were happy to hear the cries of a healthy baby in the precincts. I want them to become human resources who can support Japan in the future." I was.
