An exhibition of "wara art", which has become a symbol of the reconstruction of farmland damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake, has started in Sendai City this year.

The "Wara Art" exhibition, which is made by attaching woven straw to the skeleton of a tree, was started four years after the Great East Japan Earthquake in Wakabayashi Ward, Sendai City to celebrate the return of rice to the tsunami-affected farmland. It's the 8th time this year.



At the venue "Sendai Agricultural Gardening Center Midori no Mori", 7 pieces of "straw art" such as Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops with a total length of about 5 meters are exhibited.

In addition, works such as "Green Dinosaur" made by combining morning glory and bitter gourd vines are exhibited.



On the first day, the sparrow dance was performed by the locals, and visitors enjoyed taking pictures with the giant artwork.



A man in his 60s who came from the neighboring Taihaku Ward said, "It was my first time here, but I thought it was amazing. The weather is nice, and it's nice to be able to relax while looking at the exhibits."

The Wara Art exhibition will run until December 3rd.
