An event was held in Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture, where cactus production is booming, to let many people become familiar with cacti.
This event was planned by city staff volunteers in Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture, which boasts one of the largest cactus production volumes in Japan, in order to let more people know about its charm.
In the cactus group planting corner, the participants were taught by the farmers to fill the pots with soil and decorate them to complete the ornamental plant.
In addition, in the corner where you can sample edible cactus, parents and children cut it with a kitchen knife on the spot and tasted it raw.
A woman from Kasugai said, "It was a good opportunity to learn about cacti, such as how to plant and grow them."
Kimihiro Suzuki, Assistant Manager of Kasugai City's Economic Promotion Division, who was in charge of the event, said, "I want to make it a pride of the city so that people will say that Kasugai is synonymous with cacti."
