A survey by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare found that more than 500 people with disabilities were abused in the workplace last fiscal year, and the most common of these was economic abuse such as unpaid wages.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is investigating workplace abuse of persons with disabilities based on reports from persons with disabilities and colleagues, as well as visits to companies.



The number of people who were abused has decreased by more than 100 people every year since 2018, but last year it exceeded the previous year by 4 people, increasing for the first time in 4 years.

The most common type of abuse,



including cases in which multiple abuses were committed against one person, was

▽ Economic abuse, such as unpaid wages or wages paid below the minimum wage, accounting for 78%,

Looking at the business establishments where abuse occurred by industry,

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said, ``As the economy recovers from the corona crisis, there is concern that abuse will increase as the employment of people with disabilities increases.
