For the first time in five years, the Nunobashi Kanjoe ceremony was held in Tateyama, Toyama Prefecture.

"Nunohashi Kanjokai" is a ceremony that was held instead of women who were not allowed to enter Tateyama, which was the object of mountain worship in the Edo period to pray for rebirth.

In recent years, it has been held every three years, but due to the influence of the new corona, it was postponed for two years, and this time it will be held for the first time in five years.

Thirty-one women from within the prefecture participated in the ceremony held at Ashikuraji Temple in Tateyama Town.

The women in white robes were blindfolded with white cloth and covered with umbrellas, and followed the priest's lead to the 45-meter-long vermillion bridge "Nunobashi."

Then, while the sound of gagaku resounded, they walked slowly across the bridge covered with three rows of white cloth, which is said to represent the path to paradise, and prayed for rebirth in paradise.

A 55-year-old woman from Namerikawa City, Toyama Prefecture said, "I was able to participate because my wish for 30 years came true. I felt that women in the past really wanted to climb Tateyama." I was.
