Local sailing boat racing is at the forefront of heritage sports that celebrate the Emirati heritage to preserve the legacy of fathers and grandfathers, within the winter water sports season organized by the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, and it lasts for several months, from September 18 to December 17, in which local wooden boats are used along 22 feet, which were used in pearl diving trips.

The elite of owners, Nawakhas, and sailors who strive every time to embrace the great title, participate in this great annual event.

The race of the first round of the 22-foot Dubai Local Sailing Championships, marking the start of the new marine sports season 2022-2023, was a remarkable success and a promising start to a busy season.

The huge enthusiasm of the contestants, who aspired to “Al Namous” in the first round of the championship, appeared in the Jumeirah Sea and among the most prominent landmarks of the waterfront in the Emirate of Dubai on a track that reached a distance of more than five nautical miles from Daria Island, opposite the Bulgari resort, to the end point. Jumeirah 4, near The World Islands and Burj Al Arab Hotel.

The local sailing boat races are the oldest and most prestigious of all the local traditional boat and bearing races, and the first race was organized in Dubai's beaches in 1988 on the 29th of January of that year.
