On September 23, the fifth Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival, the 2022 Shenzhou Fourth Millennium Ancient Pear "Pear King" Competition was held in Xibagong Village, Mucun Township, Shenzhou City, Hebei Province.
The competition attracted 39 large pear-growing households to participate. A jury composed of personnel from the Shenzhou Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and other departments conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the appearance, weight, color, taste, sugar content and other indicators of the participating pears.
After fierce competition, pear farmer Wang Zhanliang's Yali won the first place with a total score of 18.6 points and won the title of the fourth "Pear King".
Shenzhou Yapear has a long history of planting. It is mainly distributed in Mucun Village, Huotou Village, Xibagong Village, Dongbagong Village and other villages in the city. There are several groups of ancient pear trees, of which 20,000 are more than 100 years old. More than 5,000 plants in 500 years.
The average age of this ancient pear tree group is 540 years. It is a first-class protected species of the national famous tree ancient tree rose, and it is the largest reserved ancient pear tree group in North China.
According to reports, the planting area of pears in Shenzhou is 107,000 mu, including 70,000 mu of Huangguan pear, 15,000 mu of Yali, 20,000 mu of Hongxiangsu, Xinliqi and Yuluxiang. This year, the output of pears will reach 300,000 tons. , the estimated output value is 749 million yuan.
