Kim Kardashian

is an icon, although she only considers herself

a "good person"

, which is what she also wants her children to be (in fact, she mentions that, along with "finishing college", that is her dream).

She is not false modesty, although some may think so, because she admits that "it's nice when people say good things about me": there are few divas who recognize themselves as such.

And it was not going to be less with one of the most famous women in the world who, despite the huge number of followers she has and the influence she exerts on popular culture, continues to be excited about professional and personal projects that are going her way. Appearing down the road like fallen from the sky.

But make no mistake: they are the fruit of hard work.

That's why

Kim Kardashian curated the Dolce & Gabbana spring-summer 2023 show

makes all the sense in the world.

Kim Kardashian's relationship with the firm goes back a long way.

"I remember my mother in these Dolce & Gabbana dresses that she would wear to nights out with my stepfather and she was always so beautiful and strong,"

says Kim Kardashian.

In addition, in the first clothing store that he worked there were also dresses from the Italians for which Kim sighed and in which he invested his salary.

"Although once they were late in paying me, I took my father's credit card to buy it," she confesses, eliciting a few laughs.

She also mentions an outfit of her mother's that she borrowed for a photo shoot and that two of her dogs are actually named Dolce and Gabbana.

Although Gabbana is now Gabbana II, because the first passed away.

Come on, what a common story, there is.

But the

turning point had to come.

"Years ago,

my stylist and I made a book that would have over a hundred Dolce & Gabbana archival pieces, and even though it was my dream, at the time they weren't very keen to open their archives and redo things

," Kardashian says with a smile.

"And then the Céline Dion

concert came along

and they made me this amazing '90s white jumpsuit with crystals on it and I was obsessed."

Since then, Kardashian began collecting vintage archive pieces from the Italian house for her personal use in all vintage stores and sales, which, in fact, was what she used at

her sister Kourtney Kardashian's multi-day wedding

, where

all the members of the family wore Dolce & Gabbana

.

The designers were very, very surprised to see

Kardashian in her own house clothes

, so the spark arose: "Why didn't we pitch something to Kim Kardashian, to get it into our archive? And she said yes," designers say.

The process has been just as you imagine it.

"We work separately

," says Domenico.

“She would select what she liked, we would select what we loved, and then we would put it together to see if she matched. And most of the time, she did,”

she explains.

Of course, there have been some discrepancies, especially with respect to prints.

"When he told us that he didn't want prints, he almost killed me

," laughs Stefano Gabbana, putting his hand to his chest.

In the end, they have left only a few touches of leopard and a much more restricted color palette than they had been doing until now and, not surprisingly, perfectly matches Kardashian's taste: black, beige, gray, brown and a little burgundy.

"I know what looks good on me, but this process is different and it has made me realize all the little details that go into it,"

Kardashian says.

"It's an incredible job. I've done it in the most creative way I can, trying very hard, it's been a great challenge."

One in which, in addition, he has had to act as a referee: "When we did not agree on something, we let her choose," says Domenico.

"They've put quite a bit of pressure on me, yeah," laughs Kardashian.

The Dolce & Gabbana Archive

The time that they have selected between the three has been the one that goes from

1987 to 2007,

a moment with which Kim Kardashian feels identified since she believes that "there are pieces for everyone".

"Obviously there are new pieces in the parade, but many are reinterpretations of that moment," she says.

"I am sure that

everyone will find something they like:

there are pieces that my daughter, my little sisters, myself, my mother and my grandmother will love", she affirms with conviction.

Ultimately, she would like to be remembered in the fashion history books as someone who strove to bring inclusivity,

both across

sizes and races , to

the table .

A step towards inclusivity

In the parade that has been reflected

in the models,

because there have been a multitude of nationalities and sizes, each one interpreting

Kim's vision of the

Dolce & Gabbana

wardrobe .

One full of

pencil skirts, corset silhouettes, stretch

fabrics and transparencies in chiffon and plastic.

Everything, under the watchful eye of Kim, who in a movie, she ate pasta like a diva of Italian cinema.

Kim Kardashian revisits the Dolce & Gabbana archive

To better understand the show, the pieces that have been reworked with the Kim touch,

Dolce & Gabbana

have included labels with the year of origin.

There has been

a lot of the 90s,

specifically, 1991, 1998 and 1999, and that there is 20 margin to play.

But one likes what she likes.

To the public, too.

The power suit by Dolce & Gabbana

In that sense, it also highlights

the tailoring,

one of

Kim's favorite parts of Dolce & Gabbana

because it makes her feel powerful.

"Even though I don't know what it is about Italy that when I come here and dress in Dolce & Gabbana,

I can't stand nonsense,"

she laughs.

Empowerment, they call it.

Rhinestones, colors, accessories and more

Plus, the show has seen

heavy doses of rhinestones

("that's color to me," says Kardashian), rhinestones on XL chokers and bodycon jumpsuits, and, of course, plenty of off-the-shoulder slouched

coats

.

Bye, Kim!

Bye, Dolce & Gabbana!

There were bets

on whether Kim would walk the show or not,

but in the end she has done what designers do:

come out to say hello at the end of the show.

First, a few seconds alone;

then, accompanied by the Italians who have made this new adventure possible for the businesswoman.

I hope you have enjoyed the process, because with the result, the rest

we have had a better time than in front of any carbonara dish.
