After a boat accident off the coast of Cambodia, two more Chinese have been found dead.

The death toll rose to three, a spokesman for the regional authorities told the AFP news agency on Saturday.

According to the information, nine other people were rescued from Vietnamese waters, eight people were still missing.

The boat with a total of 41 Chinese on board was in distress off the coast of the Cambodian city of Sihanoukville on Thursday.

A total of 30 people were rescued by Saturday.

Rescue workers from Cambodia had rescued 21 of them on Friday, according to Vietnamese information, a fishing boat now rescued nine others near the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc.

The former fishing village of Sihanoukville has developed into a city with dozens of casinos, not least thanks to Chinese investments in recent years.

There have recently been increasing reports of Chinese workers being smuggled into the city to work illegally.
