Bad news for one of the most internationally recognized Spanish comic cartoonists.

Last April, Carlos Pacheco announced that he was retiring from his professional life due to "a health problem."

And this Friday he has reported on the harsh diagnosis he has received.

"Well, it can't be. The final diagnosis makes it clear: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, in short, ALS, you know, that thing about ice cubes. It is what it is and it is what you have to face."

Thus began the text that his friends on Facebook have been able to see.

Carlos Pacheco's message also contains words of thanks for his achievements and dedicated to those who have supported him.

"It's an unexpected script twist in my life, it's true, but it doesn't make me feel lucky for everything I've lived through, for the experiences I've had, the achievements I've made and the people I've had the fortune to come across. In short, a life that has gone beyond the wildest dreams of that kid I went one day. Thanks to all of you who have always been there. We continue for bingo.

Pacheco began his career as a cover artist and adapting illustrations from international publishers to the Spanish market.

Over the years he has created his own characters and has established himself as one of the cartoonists of the reference characters of large international publishers:

Green Lantern, Superman (both in DC), The Fantastic 4, and The Avengers (these last two, in Marvel). ).

As the news spread, the social network Twitter has been filled with innumerable messages of support that collect part of his work.
