Waste management considered dangerous.
The prefecture of Pas-de-Calais administratively suspended the activity of the chemical company Synthexim of Calais, she indicated, this Friday.
This plant is classified Seveso high threshold.
This administrative suspension dates from August 25, said the prefecture, confirming information from
La Voix du Nord
.
"It can be lifted when a complete hazard study has been submitted and the operator has eliminated the waste", indicates the prefecture.
Liquid hazardous waste
She criticizes Synthexim, which manufactures intermediate chemical products for the pharmaceutical industry, for not having presented the inspection of classified installations (ICPE) with a complete hazard study, despite repeated requests since 2011.
The ICPE "is therefore not in a position to position itself on the risks presented by this site and the measures taken by the operator to remedy them", explains the prefecture.
In addition, "significant quantities of liquid hazardous waste (particularly flammable) are present on the site in conditions deemed unsatisfactory by the inspection", she adds.
