The news of Hisham Selim's death yesterday, at the age of 64, after a struggle with cancer, was shocking, after a long artistic career during which he presented dozens of acting roles on cinema and television, according to Egyptian media.

Salim's body was buried after the afternoon prayer yesterday, in the city of Sheikh Zayed in Giza Governorate, near Cairo, according to the Egyptian media.

The career of the artist, born in Cairo in 1958, the son of the former Egyptian football player and president of Al-Ahly Club Saleh Selim, began on the big screen half a century ago with the series “Mim Empire”, in which he played the role of the son of the late actress Faten Hamama.

After that, she repeated the glory of cinematic participation, with famous works, especially in the seventies and eighties, including “I want a solution” by Saeed Marzouk (1975), “The Return of the Prodigal Son” by Youssef Chahine (1976), “Please and Your Kindness” (1986), and Al-Aragoz” (1989), and “Alexandria Violin and Violin” (1990).

Hisham Selim also had a remarkable participation in the biographical film about the late Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1999.

Hisham Selim, a graduate of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Helwan University in Egypt, also had a prominent presence in television series, as he rose to prominence on the small screen since the late eighties, with works that received great follow-up, including: “The White Flag,” “Layali El Helmeya” and “Arabesque.” and "Huanm Garden City".

But the actor has become less visible on the screen in the recent period, especially after suffering from cancer, which in the past months caused complications that led to the deterioration of his health and his admission to a private hospital, until he passed away yesterday.

The last work that Selim participated in was the series “Counter Attack” during the Ramadan 2021 season.
