A Syrian father throws his son into the sea after he died of starvation while trying to reach Europe (video)

Activists on social networks circulated a video clip of a Syrian father throwing one of his children into the sea after he died of thirst, during a one-way trip to Italy in search of a better life.

The circulating video showed the Syrian father shrouding his son in his clothes amid a state of shock and fear among those on one of the illegal immigration boats. I also heard shouts from the migrants, in sympathy for the souls of the departed children and women who died among the waves of the Mediterranean.

About 32 migrants lived a real tragedy after they ran out of food, drink and fuel during a trip on a boat that set off from the Turkish city of Antalya to the port of Pozzallo in Sicily, Italy, on August 27.

Those on the boat tried to find any way to survive, so they mixed the salty sea water with toothpaste, in a last meal after they became very hungry and thirsty.

While 6 people, including 3 children, could not bear the salt water, they suffered from severe diarrhea and severe dehydration and died, while the rest of the passengers cling to the bodies of the dead, hoping to bury them properly when they reach the land, according to Reuters.

Because of the length of the journey, the dead bodies were rotted by the intense humidity;

This prompted the passengers to shroud the victims, especially children, in their clothes and throw them into the sea, while an Italian ship was able to rescue the rest of the passengers after several days at sea.

Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed that 6 Syrian migrants died of starvation and thirst while trying to cross the Mediterranean on a boat.

The UN agency stated that more than 30 people were on board the boat, noting that a large number of survivors are in a very serious health condition.

The UNHCR representative in Italy, Chiara Cardoletti, tweeted that "six migrants, including children, women and adolescents, who died at sea, died of thirst, hunger and severe burns."
