Today (September 16), there were 734 meteorological monitoring stations in Jiangxi Province with a maximum temperature of over 35°C, covering 11 cities in the province.

Due to the lack of effective rainfall, 89% of the counties (cities, districts) in the province have experienced severe meteorological drought, which has lasted for 66 days since the severe meteorological drought began in Jiangxi on July 12.

At present, the area of moderate drought or above in the province has reached 2/3 of the country's land area. From the current data analysis, the precipitation in the province has decreased by more than 80%, and the average temperature of the entire high temperature days has reached a new high.

At present, various localities are actively taking measures to ensure domestic water use and agricultural production.

One of the direct effects of the drought is dry and cracked farmland, and the other is the shortage of drinking water.

The Chengyuanlong Village Group in Pingshang Village, Ganzhu Town, Guangchang County, Jiangxi Province is located between the Danxia mountains. The domestic water here relies on mountain spring water to flow into the 20-ton reservoir of the rural drinking water project, and then enters the villagers' homes for use after sedimentation.

Due to the continuous high temperature and little rain, the amount of mountain spring water has decreased, and the water storage capacity of the reservoir is insufficient, which cannot meet the water needs of 138 people in 31 households.

In order to solve the drinking water problem as soon as possible, the local water conservancy bureau coordinated with the fire department to dispatch a large water tanker truck to the village after driving more than 20 kilometers along the rugged mountain road. The water pipe was used to inject domestic water into the pool, which could ensure the living needs of the villagers for a week.

In Huangyu Village, Xingqiao Town, Jizhou District, Jiangxi Province, more than 2,000 mu of late rice suffered from drought due to continuous high temperature, and the fields were cracked. The rice that was in the heading and grain filling stage turned yellow and curled up, facing no harvest. How to "quench thirst" in the farmland became the heartbreak of farmers.

In order to alleviate the urgent need, the local government adopted the measure of "borrowing water" from neighboring villages and started the water diversion project of the adjacent village reservoir.

The meteorological department predicts that Jiangxi will continue to be sunny and rainy in the coming week, and the drought will continue to develop and spread. Please continue to do a good job in drought defense.
