On the 25th of last month, NTT West suffered an Internet communication failure using optical lines in a wide area, including Kansai, affecting up to 2.11 million lines, of which up to 630,000 lines were out of service for 48 minutes. I was.



In response to this, on the 14th, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications conducted an on-site inspection of NTT West's facilities in Osaka City based on the Telecommunications Business Law.

During the on-site inspection, the person in charge of NTT West was interviewed about the staffing and the reason why the spare equipment did not work when responding to the communication failure.



The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications considers this communication failure to be a "serious accident" stipulated by the Telecommunications Business Law, and is requesting NTT West to report the cause of the accident and measures to prevent recurrence by the end of this month.



NTT West's parent company NTT commented, "It is true that there was an on-site inspection. We will take this accident seriously and strive to prevent recurrence."
