The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has compiled a forecast that it will be possible to secure the minimum 3% necessary for stable supply in all regions of the country for the "reserve margin", which indicates the surplus power supply, for this winter's electricity supply and demand.

However, the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is the main fuel for thermal power generation, is unpredictable. I understand.

Regarding the outlook for electricity supply and demand from December to March next year, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has requested the restart of suspended thermal power plants, etc., and the ``reserve rate'' that indicates the surplus of supply will be the most severe. In January 2018, the government compiled a forecast that it will be possible to secure the minimum 3% required for stable supply in all areas of the country, including 3.9% in the jurisdictions of Tokyo Electric Power and Tohoku Electric Power.

However, due to the impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the supply and demand of electricity is expected to continue to be extremely difficult, as the procurement of LNG, the main fuel for thermal power generation, is unpredictable.

For this reason, it was found that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is considering a request to save electricity within a reasonable range for the whole country in the winter following the summer.

It will be the first time in seven years since the summer of this year that a nationwide power saving request has been made.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will explain these policies at the council held on the 15th.
