Cardi B paid a surprise visit to her old elementary school in New York's Bronx today.

The star spent three years at IS 232, The Alexander Macomb School and obviously has fond memories of it as she donated $100,000 to the establishment.

This funding should be directed to after-school programs, including tutoring, and artistic expression such as music and dance – support that is most often lacking for disadvantaged children.

Cardi B's unexpected announcement drew a round of applause from students, while IS 232 teachers and administrators were moved to tears, TMZ reports.

Watch out for credit!

And that's not all, since the rapper also gave her time to seek some advice from the schoolchildren who questioned her.

The interpreter of

Bodack Yellow

gave them keys to their future studies.

The one who started in working life as a stripper first hired them to continue their education.

“I started making money when I was 18.

Quick money, easy money.

But nothing gets more respect than when a b*tch walks into a room and says, 'Yeah, I got a degree,'” she is seen saying in an NBC New York video.

Cardi B then gave some savvy financial advice.

She explained to the children, starting from her personal experience, that you had to be careful about the credit you take out to study, because it helps to build your bank history.

Cardi B's visit is part of her tour with the Queens-based nonprofit Community Capacity Development.
