Researchers from the University of Melbourne (Australia) recently presented a photovoltaic painting project.
The product would be able to absorb the sun's rays and the humidity in the ambient air in order to produce electricity.
It could thus be used in addition to solar panels, explains
BFMTV
on Monday.
Unlike solar panels, this inexpensive paint could also more easily cover a wide variety of surfaces, such as offices, supermarkets or even fences, to enable them to produce energy.
Its energy efficiency, the main data of the project, has not yet been communicated.
Under development, it could be marketed in the coming years.
Other energy paints
However, paints can already be used to save energy, recalls
BFMTV
.
This is particularly the case with “anti-heat” white paints which make it possible to limit the use of air conditioning.
It costs around 20 euros per square meter.
An SME from Trégueux (Côtes-d'Armor) has also developed a paint called Tempolis which allows heat to be stored during the day in order to release it in the evening.
It would save up to 15% on its annual electricity bill, indicate our colleagues.
