In Tengchong, Yunnan, on the border between China and Myanmar, there is a family of three generations who have changed from the "olive green" of military uniforms to "navy blue" of police uniforms, and have been defending the southwest frontier of the motherland for more than half a century.

Wang Rongpu is a police officer at the entry-exit border inspection station in Tengchong, Yunnan.

There is a black and white photo in his home, which records the military years of his grandfather Wang Xudan.

In 1946, 16-year-old Wang Xudan joined the revolutionary ranks, and then made many military exploits in the war of liberation.

He moved to Yunnan with the army in the hail of bullets, and in 1966 he changed his career to work in public security.

The picture shows the "50 Years of Glory in the Party Medal", "Second-Class Golden Shield Medal" and "Second-Class Merit Medal" won by Mr. Wang Xudan.

At that time, Wang Xudan, who could have returned to his hometown of Shanxi, chose to stay in Tengchong to take root in the frontier construction. This stay was for a lifetime.

Today, the old man is 92 years old, and the "50 Years of Glory in the Party Medal", "Second-Class Golden Shield Medal" and "Second-Class Merit Medal" displayed in his home are proofs of his prosperous years.

Wang Qiang is Wang Rongpu's father. Following his father Wang Xudan's example since childhood, he enlisted in the army in 1987 and was stationed in the southwestern border of the motherland. He left a color photo outside the army camp where he served.

"From this photo, the photos of our family are all in color, and I have created a new chapter in the photography of our family." He said.

In 1991, Wang Qiang chose to return to his hometown Tengchong to join the police battalion after transferring from the army.

From the beginning, he participated in the escort task of light criminals, and now he is responsible for the organization and coordination of the escort task of prisoners sent to prison in Tengchong City.

During the escort, he encountered a criminal accomplice carrying a gun and preparing to hijack a car, but he calmly commanded the escort police to load their bullets, and finally resolved the crisis and successfully completed the escort mission.

In 1987, Wang Qiang took a photo outside the military camp where he was serving.

Wang Rongpu grew up listening to his grandfather's story since he was a child, from the sparks of Jinggangshan to the birth of New China, from the revolutionary years to the booming construction years.

"Since I was a child, I have believed that being in the army is a kind of exercise, receiving military education is an honor, and defending the home and the country is the responsibility and obligation of every citizen," he said.

When he grew up, Wang Rongpu became a soldier like his grandfather and father as he wished.

In 2014, he was admitted to the Chinese People's Armed Police Force Academy (now "Chinese People's Police University") with honors.

In 2019, he was transferred from the public security and border defense forces to the people's police sequence and became an immigration management police officer.

After Wang Rongpu graduated from the military academy, he became a border inspector at the Tengchong Entry and Exit Border Inspection Station.

In the face of the menacing new crown pneumonia epidemic, he and his colleagues put on protective clothing without hesitation, and took the initiative to fight on the front line of epidemic prevention and control.

He firmly said, "Take off the military uniform and change into the police uniform, just change the place to fight."

One family, three generations, from the flames of war to the prosperity of peace, this is a blood inheritance spanning more than half a century.

From "olive green" to "navy blue", no matter how the title and responsibilities change, the loyalty and will to protect the family and the country flowing in them never change.
